Following on from my visit to The National Gallery in London, I was completely inspired by the Renaissance artist Sassoferrato. consequently, I decided to create an A1 artist research page.
Sassoferrato was an Italian Baroque painter whose paintings were highly desirable during the Renaissance period. After attempting to research this artist, I found it difficult to find a large amount of information on him. However, his paintings have influenced me so much that I want to include him as a key influence in my portfolio.
In my previous post I analysed the paintings of his which inspired me the most. The component of his paintings which I found striking was the vibrance of the ultramarine blue fabric which enshrouded the shoulders of the Virgin Mary. I liked the tenderness shown between the baby Jesus and Mary and the fact that Mary's ultramarine blue fabric also seem t surround the baby Jesus, protecting him.
To develop my influence of this artist further in to my portfolio, I somehow want to include the ultramarine fabric. As previously explored, I would like to use a symbol to represent the mother in some way. In response to Arquer Buigas, I used a chopping board to act as a symbol of the mother. However, I have the idea of incorporating the blue fabric into my work by perhaps using it to be the symbol of the mother. I could perhaps position the fabric so that it surround the child. Therefore it could be seen as protective. In response to this artist, I aim to make this idea clearer.
